Hi guys this is my final work for term 3.

This is a painting i done that combines technique and style from both Richard Diebenkorn and Roland Lee with a bit of my own style. I've used washers as well as solid block colours. It is an inside of a house looking out the window to a beautiful view of the sea and land.

Dan Kim's Clone Army

FYI, this is the artist Dan Kim who I posted into the links bar last week. He's mostly a manga influenced artist, especially talented with digital artwork. His graphic stories are the main body of his work, the best of which is Paper Eleven, an almost abstract story with very innovative artwork. For those of you who work frequently with digital painting, Dan Kim's monochrome erasure techniques are creative and produce very effective results through simple methods. Worth a quick look.

Starry Eyed Surprise

Starry Eyed Surprise
A visual response to the work of Pablo Amaringo

Following the methods of Amaringo, I created this piece with pencil and imagination. Just as Amaringo's work reflects his culture, this image reflects the world I've grown up in and the modern concepts of our western society. Amaringo's paintings are filled with religious figures and naturalistic symbols, parts of Peruvian culture that simply make no sense to my foreign mind.

Instead, my visions are of distorted glamour queens, images of wealth and materialism. While the colours are still as vibrant as Amaringo's the content is vastly different. The pop art style and MTV atmosphere are the visual symbols of the consumer culture I live in. Television shapes so much of our lives and ideals, it's no surprise that a spiritual experience reflects this.

Hey, just wanted to share with you guys this site...

She is a french graffiti artist, but instead of using spray cans to paint with, she used actual paint and paint brushes. I think it's really interesting work and always inspiring.
